For the first time in any international art biennale, works by artists from the European Union, including painting, photography, collage, video and installations, are brought together in a joint exhibition in one of the four official pavilions of the Beijing International Art Biennale.
Curatorial topic:
As described by „Creative Europe“, art is a powerful tool that can change the way we think and act. This exhibition is inspired by this broad and powerful concept of art. Could art help us to think and act as European citizens? Could it succeed in defining us with a distinct cultural entity of our own? Could this common exhibition in China help us in this quest for unity? In short, is there such a thing as the „European Spirit“? It is with these questions in mind, and as an experiment, that this exhibition of European art in Beijing was conceived.
CAI is the abbreviation of the parent company Contemporary Art Issue
A platform, publisher and gallery on contemporary art. Due to the interdisciplinary character of Contemporary Art Issue, CAI Gallery is able to implement a kaleidoscopic approach rethinking the curatorial practice of a gallery for contemporary art, distinguishing itself from other galleries.

„Nieuwsgierigheidskabinet“
(„The Curiosity Cabinet“)
The opening of the cultural season always stimulates curiosity.
With this exhibition we present a series of new (international) artists, who all show their own vision in the changing world of everyday life. They grab, hold, exaggerate, abstract and transform elements of what we all know. They found the essence. We see through their eyes on worlds that would otherwise be hidden. On Sunday, September 3rd, we will introduce to you „The Curiosity Cabinet“ (“Nieuwsgierigheidskabinet”). As always, we show you the art and this time we also have a mini-exhibition in the Janskerkhof under the flag of Art Utrecht. The exhibition runs until the beginning of November.
